Low and slow baby, low and slow...

That's the average MPG of Box since I bought it. It probably could be better, but the cold weather has worked against me.

When I was car shopping this last time, I was concentrating on finding something reasonably fuel-efficient which was sill enjoyable to drive. I ended up getting lucky and buying Box, which I had not expected to be able to afford.

And ever since I bought Box I've been paying a lot of attention to my fuel economy and have made a sort of game of maximizing it.

But more than that, I've been trying to change my driving style. I had a tendency to speed as a default, and to get really stressed & frustrated by any slowdown, traffic, etc. While at the same time I tried my best to be considerate of other drivers and not get into pissing contests on the road. I described it as "A type-A driver trying hard to be a type-B driver".

When I bought Box I decided to take it to the next level. I'm driving at around 60-65 mph and sticking pretty much to the right lane. These speeds net me good MPG, and means I am no longer trying to be in front of everyone.

But more than that, I've noticed a distinct change in my driving attitude. I no longer stress as much about if I'm "on time" or running a little late. I no longer obsess over how much a small slowdown may affect my arrival time. Most surprising when I noticed it, seeing a cop no longer stresses me out. I no longer worry that they are going to pull me over.

It is interesting to see the differences evolve in my driving style.

Prince Albert

The office here at work suddenly inexplicably smells of really good pipe tobacco.

It is driving me nuts because I can't figure out why. It smells sooooo good. Every time i smell pipe tobacco I get the urge to get some and just leave it in sachets around the house because it smells so rich.

Nothing quite like an air freshener that gives you cancer...
