"Well, I decided to paint the parts for the Cat myself, rather than getting a body-shop to do it. Someone suggested I use Rustoleum paint, which might give me less depth than regular automotive spray-paint, but is very durable, which is exactly what I was looking for.
I finshed the bodywork on the hood & bumper (cleaning up the mounting holes for the hood ornament, and fixing assorted scratches and gouges) today. I then painted the bumper & side mirror. I'm going to let them cure all weekend while I'm in CT and see on sun/mon whether I need to give them another coat or not. The hood only needs the have the underside prepped before I can start painting that (going to take forever as I have to paint both the underside & top, with several days of drying between coats). Of course the fender, which was the part I wanted replaced the most, I haven't got anywhere near ready. I still have to get the glue off from the old L model side trim, and drill mounting holes for the new LX side trim.
Once [A] gets home I'm heading to CT for the rest of the week/weekend. I'm heading over to [C]'s place so she and I can take advantage of the great weather to work on our cars. Also in the plan is to do the brakes on both The Cat and my mom's car (both of which I tried and failed to do last weekend). I also want to try and get the patched window and the rear bumper on The Cat repainted.
Going to have to find some stencils..."
