"So I got to sleep around 1 am last night. awoke again at 6am, and drove back from Boston at around 6:40am. Barely made it home ok, and called out to wokr and came home and slept from around 8:45 - 2:45.
Now I'm heading into work for a bit to at least get the customer builds done, then I'm prolly going to come home, shower and get some more sleep.
Ick."

"Well I'm back from work. I feel somewhat better, but am still really tired.

Well I dashed up to Boston for a Callahanian Realspace.
The Realspace was a lot of fun. I got to snuggle with DocElf, saw Fae for the first time in ages and got to see a couple other people I haven't seen in ages. Fortunately for all of us the guy hosting it was fairly well behaved. He didn't intterupt too many people's stories, and only once wandered off to sulk because he wasn't be paid attention to enough once.
DocElf and I left early and headed back to her place as she had work early in the morning. We curled up together and drifted off to sleep.
The next morning she left for work and I slept in for another couple hours, Then I arose, took a shower, raided her fridge for breakfast, and sat around reading and snuggling with her cats for a couple more hours.
I then headed off towards Harverd Square, managing to get lost several times along the way. The advantage though of getting lost was that I found some kids washing cars as a fundraiser. I pulled The Cat in and had them wash her. As ususally happens at these sort os things, The Cat spent more time getting read then scrubbed. I didn't mind though, as I stop at these car washes more to support the kids then to get The Cat clean. I eventually got to Harvard Square and miraculously found a parking space nearby almost immediately. I ended up, amid much walking stopping at TeaLuxe for a peppermint tea (bin 223, I highly recommend it), and found the latest Spider Robinson book a Pandamonium.
Eventually (after several calls) I managed to get in touch with FC, and arranged to go to her place and hang out with her and Fae (who is visiting from Ohio).
The time at FC's place was... odd. It wasn't all bad or all good. It was sort of strange. Fae left around 7pm someone for a party, and FC and I hung out and snuggled. I ended up spending the night with FC, which in retrospect was not the best thing to do.
And on top of that when I left at 6:50am so I could get to work on time, there was a $15 ticket on my car for 'overnight parking'.
I drove home, barely making it without drifting off. Called out to work and told them I was feeling too crappy to come in but would try and come in later in the day to do customer builds. I then slept from about 8:45 - 2:45. I awoke, changed, logged in and eventually got to work around 3:30, still feeling like shit. I got the two overdue builds done, and one that's due tomorrow night. I also managed to pull out the boxed bikes for tomorrow's builds so I would be that much ahead tomorrow.
Tomorrow at work is going to be interesting. I have to catch up on the builds, and the 24" & 26" bike racking is empty which means building lots of those. But that's not what's goign to make it really interesting..."

Dear Mr [my last name],

In response to your request, statutes involving break time and payment of wages are enclosed.

Please also note the enclosed definiton of "hours worked". If an employee is permitted to work, whether of not required to do so, he must be paid for that time. Failure to pay this time is a violation of Connecticut General Statutes 31-71b.

If you or your employer have any questions please feel free to contact me at the number below.

Sincerely,
Daniel M Jackson
Wage Enforcement Agent

Translation, 'If your job doesn't pay you all the money they owe you from their illegal editing of your timesheet, and also stops trying to claim that you have to take a 1/2hr break at a 6 hr shift, the labor dept is going to come down on them like a ton of bricks.'

It helps that my father used to run the cafeteria at the CT Labor Dept building, and is remembered fondly by pretty much everyone there who knew him.
My work life is going to get interesting real soon I think..."
