clothing...
Aug. 18th, 2003 06:42 pm"So i was assigned to a K-Mart today, while I was there I bought two pairs of black jeans and a new wallet. Was startled to discover that I could get name-brand jeans for under $20/pair. I also finally replaced my tattered and falling-apart wallet.
This shopping trip made me realize something, I have a tendancy to hang onto clothes and such even when I shouldn't or don't need to. I keep wearing clothing that is worn-out or stained/ripped/etc just because I'm too lazy to replace it or throw it out and it's simpler to just keep washing it and wearing it. I also tend to hang onto clothing that I don't much like, or that I feel no longer suits me simply because it'sv still in useable shape so replacing it seems irrational. My wallet was a case-in-point fopr this, it was a brown wallet that was given as a gift. I disliked the color and wasn't hugely fond of the style but I kept using it for 2-3 years because it was there and it was in decent shape.
I've decided today to start getting rid of clothing that is too worn out, or I don't like and replacing it with items I actually enjoy wearing. I can't afford to do this all at once, but a constant slow cycling out of old and in of new shouldn't be too expensive.
In that vein I threw out a couple pairs of holy jeans (including the damn pair with the zipper that always falls down), and while I didn't tos any t-shirts I cycled several over into the 'wear as work clothes' catergory (cuz work shirts get covered in grease and stains so I don't want to ruin shirts I care about).
I think sometime in the not-to-distant future I shall buy several motre black t-shirts and try painting further designs on them, since I love my silver-flames shirt so much."
