Stuff to doooo.....
Apr. 21st, 2004 09:05 am"At a general announcement, the party will in fact be going on this weekend, same times/dates as the original notice. Thank you ot al lthe ppl who RSVPed.
This means that before the party I need to do a bit more cleaning, get drinks and snacky things, and furnish the front porch. I want to get stuff to sit on out thre before the party so we can actually go out there and enjoy the nice weather. I saw a neat free-standing porch swing (so we don't have to trust the dry-rotted ceiling of hte porch), and I'll prolly get some cheap plastic chairs and a table.
The first weekend of May is Founder's Day at Vassar. I have been being told for several years I should attend this, including multiple invites this year. The major problem with this being that every time someone tals about it they make a point to note that everyone over 21 gets free beer. Now I don't drink, and while I have no issue with other ppl drinking I don't tend to enjoy their presence while they are drinking. So going to a very large event which is apparently quite alcohol intensive (and if stories are to be believed, drug intensive) has quite limited appeal. In theory I could just hang out with my friends and ignore all the boozing around me, except that one of the ppl I'd particularly like to hang out with was talking about what alcohol she'd bring instead since she doesn't like beer.
Ah well, it'll give me more time to work on the Cadillac, whichI may well need to have her ready for the following weekend.
Because the second weekend of May I'm hoping to take a road trip south to visit a dear friend. This is dependant on my $$ situation improving (I am currently $700 in the hole thanks to car repairs, though when/if my tax refunds arrive they'll cover nearly all of that), getting the Cadiilac road-trip worthy, nad work not being dicks.
The Cadillac will need before then, her replacement transmission installed, the starter replaced and hte wiring for said same checked, and some other more minor going-over.
I'd like to have the dagmar front bumper installed (which after a test-fit today looks both easier and harder than expected), the black paint fixed up and the flames painted, and I'd dearly love if I could get the CD changer/Cass stereo installed so I'd have CDs to listen to instead of my ancient tapes. Oh, and recharging the AC system would be a bonus cuz apparently it is hotter 'n hell down htere right now."
