Oh for fucks sake.
Dec. 21st, 2004 09:52 am "After a really nice weekend, and spending time with cool ppl I had to come home to this?
Yesterday was sucky. I was a little late for work, then it took them an hour to get bikes for me. Then I discovered I had failed to put my impact gun back in my work tool box and had to drive 45min round trip to retrieve it. Then after starting in on only my 3rd bike of the day the handlebars for it fell off my work table and smashed a nearly full bottle of OJ on the floor, sending glass & OJ everywhere. So I had to clean that up. Just a generally miserable day at work. And since it was dark and everything was undetr snow I couldn't start any of the disassembly work for Scar's engine swap.
Today started out great, was up before the alarm, and out of the door well ahead of schedule. Figured I'd work my tail off at work and try toget out as early as possible. This way if the day warmed up any I could do said disassembly work.
About a 3rd of the way into my drive Emily's transmission went to shit. 2nd gear[1] slipping so badly I had to keep the pedal floored to stay above 45mph. Pulled oof and drove overland back through Hartford to home. Called my boss, the one who promised me the world if I didn't go find another job. He said he'd get me a rental car for the day. Only after stating flat out 'both of my cars are crapped out, if you want me to work I'll need one for the week' did he grudgingly agree to that[2]. Except that of the rental places our company uses the nearest is across the river in East Hartford. Which requires highway driving, something neither of my cars are capable of. And everyone I know is at work right now so I can't get a lift.
Ghods this sucks. And even worse, it is bloody cold out there[3] and Scar is sitting in a half a foot of snow. So I sure as hell aren't going to be able to get anything usefyul done on her today, which is going to further screw up my schedule of engine replacement for the rest of the week. Which means I may not get it done this week. Which means I may not have wheels for Xmas weekend.
Gah. I feel like not only is the shit being piuled deeper and deeper on me, but the world keeps taking away my shovel or kicking my feet out from under me so I don't even have a chance of keeping up, let alone getting ahead."
EDIT 10:13am: I decided to veg playing GTA:SA, only to discover that the saved game I've been playing and advancing in for two months is glitched and won't load. The next best saved game is from a month ago. *sigh* Gonna be one of thsoe lifetimes...
[1] it's 2-spd so 2nd is the 'highway' gear.
[2] busiest time of the year, and I'm one of three techs for all of CT
