In which our protagonist is chilly...
Jan. 18th, 2005 03:51 pm "So cold, so damn cold. Got out of my warm bed[1] into freezing cold room. Put on freezing cold clothes and got into freezing cold and highly tempermental car. Drove to today's store. Discovered that the bikes to be built are in what used to be the 'quick oil change' garage. Its now the 'store crap and cause bike assembler to freeze outlying parts of his body' garage. Had to buy crappy air compressor since my really nice one[2] died yesterday[3]. Built some bikes, after about half a day's worth I said 'fuck this' and packed up and left. Too freaking cold to continue. Discovered that when I locked the car in the morning so packages wouldn't get stolen the driver's door lock got jammed. Crawled in and out of the passenger side through stop at gas station, bank and post office.
At post office I mailed 3/5 of ebay auctions[4]. Came home. Was going to check transmission fluid level in Scar, ended up instead re-tightening loose bolts on exhaust manifolds and using leak stop spray to try and slow/stop a 2 quart of oil/day leak. Got door unstuck. Am inside trying to get warm enough to feel my toes.
Am somewhat tempted to go to diesel tonight. Crest, PG and 44rpm will be there, as well as other ppl I don't have nicknames for. One really big thing is giving me pause me though. The idea of driving up and potentially tonight having to drive back in that is less than appealing.
Going to go take a nap now, in my heated bed."
[1] an hour later than I should have, largely due not catching up from insomnia on Sun night
[2] with 2 gallon tank and spiffy sensor that turns the compressor on and off as needed to keep the tank full.
[3] as in the blue smoke that makes it run escaped, leaving only scorch marks on the electirc motor for the compressor.
[4] one awaiting payment, one awaiting me figuring out exactly how to mail a 5' wide dashboard pad to the midwest.
