Going places.
May. 8th, 2005 06:08 pm "Friday I went to the furry diner mee,t but only stayed a very short time before feeling bored and heading home.
Saturday I was awoken very early and found myself feeling productive and wide awake, so I went to town on the floors. Swept the whole apartment and washed all the floors before 10am. Went to breakfast, picked up some Murphys Oil Soap on the way home and re-washed the hardwood floors with that (and man but that stuff does help, floors look much shinier). Productive streak bottomed out after that and poked aroudn the house for a bit before packing up and driving up to western MA to spend the night with PG.
Next morning we went out to breakfast, and ended up stopping in at an antique truck show. Pretty pretty big ol' trucks. Including a 1922 Mack that we got to hear run.
Drove back down to CT and immediately to my mom's place. Tried to wish her a happy mother's day but she wasn't home so I left the flowers for her in a vase o nthe table with a note. Then visited a friend in her town. Ended up getting to ride in a 1973 Volvo 1800 ES (not that car, but virtually identical). Tried to locate a spiffy junkyard but arrived only to find a empty bulldozed lot, well fuck. Also checked on a '61 Comet in a field and put in an offer on it (can use the parts and/or sell it or the parts for some $$ for Emily).
Now I am home and am likely going to just bugger off and relax for the rest of the evening.
I have to say I'm loving driving the Subbie. 25mpg means I can actually drive around a lot without breaking the bank. And I trust that car enough that every trip isn't fraught with a constant fear of being stranded.""
