"Fey and I looked at a place Monday evening. Its in a different (but still nice) area of Hartford. 2nd floor, 2.5 bedrooms[1], 1 bath, LR (w/working fireplace), DR, pantry, 3-season porch, private entrance. It has hardwood throughout, and most of the original oak moulding is intact and not painted. New kitchen & bath. Overall not as *impressive* or large as our current place, but also very nice and everything seems to be in much better condition (and lacking in vermin). Our only neighbors would be the 98 yr old woman downstairs. We get the whole attic and 1/2 the basement for storage. The entire driveway is ours (3 cars easily, at least 10+ if we cram them in), as well as 1 garage bay now, and another once the landlord sells the car stored in the other bay. New windows throughout, new furnace (with radiators! Joy!), new appliances, hookups for our W/D in the apartment and everything of very high quality. Our rent would go up about $45/month over what it is now, but that would be vastly offset by the (almost certainly) cheaper heat, better parking, garage and distinct lack of vermin or pieces falling off the building.
We finished the application yesterday and should be getting it back to the landlord today. The hope is to give our notice here as soon as possible, and spend the last 1/2 of Dec & 1st 1/2 of Jan moving at our leisure instead of trying to do it in one frantic day. Standard begs/bribes for packing/moving help apply.

Oh, and just to make my NYC & Boston friends sick. The rent for the entire apartment is $995/month + utilities.

[1]one is very small and has no closet, but should suffice for office/guest room purposes, though we'll prolly need to build another custom desk.

Pretties!

"Ok, I want these chairs!"

EDIT: No really. Those are more or less exactly the sort of chairs I want ot get to replace the current ones in our living room. The current ones are getting tattered, and Fey doesn't actually like them. I don't mind that much as I can flop in all sorts of ways on them, but Fey only really fits comfortably sitting properly, which is not those chairs strong point. Leather would wear better, and look really nice, and thsoe are really high quality chairs that should last us a couple decades with proper care. I'm currently trying to figure out if I can rationalize dipping into savings to get them what with the holidays putting a squeesze on my next paycheck.

EDIT 3:30pm: Ok never mind. ad has been deleted which I'm guessing means they've been sold. Ah well.

EDIT 11pm: And they're back. They're messing w/ my head!!!

EDIT 12-18-05: And now I OWN THEM! I rule!

"Assuming snowy doom either doesn't happen or is over reasonably early this Friday is the W Mass poly diner meetup. The Amberfiend is bussing into hartford, then she and I are driving up there, spending time with ppl at the diner, and prolly hanging out some with PG afterwards. Then the Amberfiend and I are driving out to Boston where I'm spending the night.
Sat evening is Velvet's last show with his band, so I (and likely Fey and the Alley Cat) are going to that. Am going to try and spend at least part of Sat/Sun working on Emily, and starting to sort/clean the basement in preperation for moving (dear god, kill me now)."

P.S. for those who keep up with this, the Amberfiend and I are back together in approximately the same capacity we were before our couple-month hiatus. Much was discussed between us and seems to have been cleared up/settled.
