Car Haiku

"So I called Velvet to tell him I'd bought a new car. I got his answering machine. Usually his machine has a bizarre haiku on it, however the current message is 'No haiku today, leave your own.' I left a message saying 'I don't know how to turn 'I bought a new car, Yay!' into a haiku.' The following got left on my voicemail:

Poly Social, Hartford CT

My housemate and I will be hostiong a Poly Social at our place in Hartford on Friday Feb. 24th, starting at 7pm. Our place is fairly roomy, there is plenty of on-street parking and the neighborhood is quite safe. Please RSVP with email info for the address.

  The basic idea would be a chance for people to be social and talk in a less public setting. Also because it isn't a resturant people wouldn't have to feel
obligated to buy something. I figure people can talk and hang out, we can have a poly Q&A session if ppl would like. Also we have lots of board & card games as well as movies if folxs are so inclined.
  We wouldn't be serving dinner, however if people wanted to bring food/snacks/drinks (non-alcoholic) that would be very welcome. We will likely
have some sort of snacky things & beverages, but please don't come expecting everyone else to feed you.
Some things to keep in mind. This is being held in our home. Please be considerate of that and the people here. We reserve the right to ask anyone
being disrespectful or making someone uncomfortable to leave. Our apartment is not particularly kid-safe/friendly.
If you have any questions at all about this event, please don't hesitate to ask, either on list or in a private email. If you are planning to attend,
*please* RSVP so we know how many people to expect.

• clean bathroom
  
• clean room (or at least fold & put away all the clean laundry)
  
• continue trend of organizing apartment
  
• do dishes (half done)
  
• make up sign for front door, and private/bathroom/emergency exit/etc. signs for rest of apartment.
  
• drag deacon's bench up from basement
  
• try to keep obsessing about social to a minimum (yeah, right)
  

Housewarming party, March 4th

"Come one come all to see the wonders of our new apartment! Revel at the hardwood floors! Admire the large brick fireplace! Wonder at the oddness of the half room! See the strange folding design of the french doors! Watch Pixel gibber happily about his garage space! Enjoy the wonders of a batchroom free of horifying design/construction problems, a kitchen free of vermin, stairs free of structural failings, and most of all downstairs tenants who don't require calling the cops at least once a month!

Fey & I will be having our housewarming party on Saturday Mar 4th, at our new apartment here in Hartford. Festivities officially begin at noon on Saturday, though travelers are welcome Friday night if you contact us ahead of time to make arrangements. Partying will continue until unconsciousness on Saturday night/Sunday morning. We will resume Sunday morning, but the party will officially end at 1:00 with brunch at a resturant to be determined by whoever is still around. People are welcome to return to the apartment after brunch, but you may be asked to clean, and we reserve the right to throw you out without guilt anytime after that.

Bring games, bring conversation, bring munchies if you like (we'll be providing some but more can't hurt). We will have games, gaming, movies and general geekery & silliness.

Crash space is available with prior arrangement. Options include the Futon of Mediocrity, the Couch of Uncomfortable Support Bars and air mattresses that (prolly) hold air.

Overnight street parking is legal plus there is off-street parking, so don't worry about staying too late. Pickups at the bus station can happen if you lack a personal vehicle. If you're driving from afar please post a comment so carpools may also be arranged."
