And Hummer goes pathetic
May. 15th, 2006 09:08 amThe Hummer H1 being retired
"Ok it's big clunky, gets horrible MPG,has been the target of virtually every environmental group and I personally hate them. However GM is making a huge mistake here. The entire Hummer brand was built on the sheer go-anywhere, do-anything badass quotient of the H1. And without that it's just a range of rebodied Chevys playing at being big tough trucks. While as a vehicle the H1 isn't selling well, as a brand mascot it is vital to making all those sad suburban guys feel like they're driving something incredible when thye climb into their 5-cyl H3.
Without the H1 the Hummer brand is going to end up looking more like a bad joke than anything else. And likely will turn into another case of a dead brand walking, just like Buick, Saab, Pontiac, and far too much else of the GM lineup."
