This Post by [livejournal.com profile] liz_marcs is incredible and well worth the read.

(technically this is day one of my vacation as it is the first day I should have been working)

BiCamp was rather disapointing[1]. Attendance was down by 1/3, and lots of regulars didn't return this year. We got there a bit late on Friday, and scambled to get our tents set up in the last minutes of daylight.
Saturday we got in some time at the swimming hole, and came back just about in time to franticly put away anything that could get wet when the thunderstorm rolled through. Afterwards it was staying damp and foggy, so our whole group made a decision to decamp en-mass. We packed everything into the cars and went to one of the group's place which was minutes away. Hung out there til lateish, then fell asleep in their nice dry house.
Sunday morning we figured out who's stuff had ended up in who's cars and corrected that, then headed out. I came home and napped, then pottered around the apartment doing bugger all.
This morning started by going to work, I'd forgotten to deal with some files and had to stop in for a moment to take care of it. I did also manage to stop at the town garage and get rid of the gallons of waste oil and transmission fluid I'd accumulated.
Then I headed out to a junkyard I'd wanted to explore for a while. Sweet jesus but it was worth the trip. Tons of amazing old cars just rusting away[2]. Next time I'm bringing a camera. I also found a Comet of the same year, body style and color as Emily, which I'm going to go back and raid for parts sometime soon.

Now I'm heading down to NYC, will be there at least overnight. And sometime in the next few days I need to pick up Emily's transmission.

[1] enough so that I have no interest at all in attending next year, and kinda feel that this year wasn't really worth the $$

[2]among them a Jensen Interceptor III, a '58 Cadillac Limo, a late-40's Cadillac Hearse, a late-50s Vaxhall (I'd love to know how a europe-only sedan ended up in a MA junkyard), a '50-ish Ford Woody wagon... you get the idea. ANd I didn't even see all of it.
