That special kinda crazy.
SO as an aside in my post about wanting a new car last week I linked to this craigslist ad.
It's for a 1958 Plymouth 2-door wagon. Neat car, but needing a lot of work just to be driven (no brakes, engine burns oil, been sitting for years, rot in the floors, etc.). At the time when I linked it he was asking $2,500 for it. A few hours later he'd raised the price to $3,000, which I thought was a bit odd.
I called him to ask about looking at the car, more out of curiosity then any real intent to buy. He spent a *lot* of the phone conversation talking about how much the car was worth, . But he also mentioned he'd only bought it because it was super cheap, that he didn't actually like the car and hadn't done anything but leave it under a tarp for the 3 years he's owned it.
Then the car appeared on ebay, starting bid of $2,500 buy-it-now of $4,000. And the pictures there show it to be in even *worse* condition then he'd previously stated on craigslist and on the phone.
Then after being on ebay for several days, and receiving no bids, he raised the price to $4,500 with a buy-it-now of $6,000.
I'm willing to bet that he'll get no bids, and continue to be damn sure the car is worth a fortune. And the car will continue to rot in his driveway.
