So our apartment building's foreclosure sale was today. We cleaned and neatened and put away the more incriminating stuff. Which turned out to be completely pointless.
The lawyer handling it showed up at 9am, and sat in their car out front for two hours. At 11am sharp he announced the auction open, and stood there with his paralegal and a rep from the bank.
At 11:02 he declared the auction over and that the bank had the property.
At ~11:04 two different people showed up and wanted to look at the property, he told them the auction was already over and they left.
They are going to email us the contact info for the rep for the bank. Most likely the bank will have no problem with us continuing to live here and pay them rent. And if they do want to evict us he said it could take up to six months for that to happen anyway.
So huge weight off our shoulders. We're still looking for other places, but now it is much less time sensitive.
