Guerrilla Drive-In Movies!
Jul. 30th, 2008 10:29 amMovMob is a group that organizes mobile unofficial drive-ins across the country. The basic setup is that you get emailed a day or two ahead of time with a location & time. When you show up someone has a projection rig in their car and projects the movie onto a building or wall or whatever and its like being at an old drive-in.
This is so cool! I signed up for all the chapters in lower New England a while ago, but they don't seem to be active.
I would love to start up a Hartford/Western MA area group. Unfortunately it looks like I'd need $1000-$2000 in gear to build a projection setup[1], so this may remain a pipe dream.
But how cool would it be to just set up a drive in in a random location and show movies?
[1]LCD or DLP projector, power inverter, portable DVD player or laptop, semi-professional FM transmitter.
