Today was a busy day.

Woke up around 7:30, and made myself as hygienic and respectable as possible for my job interview. Then stuffed some cleaning supplies in the car and headed over to the house I'd been living at.
I and my housemates swept scrubbed and mopped the place to as good as it was going to get so that we could leave the keys behind and be officially moved out. During the cleaning the drain pipes for the kitchen sink (which we'd had the landlord's "plumber guy" in to fix at least 3-4 time while we lived there) failed spectacularly. With bits falling off and water cascading through the wall into the basement. While I hate the place I am in now, I will not miss that house.
Left housemates to finish up so I could head out to RI for my interview. Paused briefly along the way to photograph two diners then straight on to the place. Changed into interview clothes in a parking lot nearby and went to my interview. It is a company that sells insanely high-end door/cabinet hardware, fireplaces, etc. My job would be to essentially run the (one man) department that makes custom brass sink bases. Mostly assembly work, with some fabrication and custom work. The company is small enough I'd also be assisting the restoration dept, custom metal finishes dept, etc. Seems like a great place to work for, and while the pay is low to start, it has a chance to grow as I take on full responsibility for the dept and expand what I do there. Boss of the co. seemed to like my attitude, and didn't have a problem with my limited experience in the field. He has two more interviews, but I should know one way or the other by the end of next week.
Stopped off to look at a house I'd seen for sale cheap, and discovered exactly why it was so cheap (neighborhood almost as bad as where I am now, and the building is a majorly trashed foreclosure property). Ah well.
Drove home a different route, and photographed two more diners on the way (all the diner pics are here). Got home and went to Five Guys for dinner with [livejournal.com profile] auntiemame67.

Oh and the Keith thing? I was trying to print out my resume before I left to clean the old place. Had to email it to myself so I could print it out on the computer hooked to the printer. It was an .rtf file created in Open Office, and modified in Word. When opened in Wordpad or Works on the other computer, it was horribly mangled. Spacing was changed, font sizes were changed, centered lines were left justified, tabbed things were no longer tabbed, etc. So I am fighting with Works to try and bash it back into the shape it was before. All while being intensely frustrated at what has been screwed up and trying to figure out how to un-screw it up.
Well right about the time I opened the mangled file the first time some guy pulled up outside the house next door and started alternating between honking his car horn and screaming loudly for someone named "Keith". This persisted constantly for the entire forty minutes it took to fix and print the file. He was still at it when I left to go clean the house. It was only the fact I was already running late that kept me from putting the computer down and going out to shove my head in his car window and tell him to shut up! I swore that if I recorded him yelling and honking, I could have murdered him and used that tape on loop as my entire defense and probably gotten off scot free.
