"Well, I tried again to sell my crown vic via ebay, and once again I failed.
What amazes me is the incredibly dumb or useless email ppl send you about your auctions...
My starting bid was $5,000. I recieved an email from one person saying 'if you don't get your price of $5,000, would you sell it for less than $2,500?' Right... I'm going to sell the car for less than half of my minimum bid.
Another simply said 'tell me about purchasing the car.' did he want to kmow how I purchased it? Or how he would purchase it? It turned out to be the second option, and by the time I had gotten an answer the auction was over, and it took everything I had not to reply 'well in order to bid on my car, you needed to click the little 'BID' button on the auction'. I was nice however and didn't, instead I sent him an email basicly saying 'Make me an offer on the car, and if I like it I'll sell it to you.'I hope he understands that, I don't feel like explaining the basic workings of money, commerce, and capitalism to him just to possibly sell him a car."

"I've decided that, since I'm working in a dusty warehouse all day, and have not had occasion to get properly dressed up in weeks. I'm going to get almost ludacriously dressed up for the Western Mass Poly get-together at Javanet tonight.
Oh, and if anyone needs a lift from anywhere in the general area of the Pioneer Valley email me and let me know and I'll be glad to come pick you up."

"I just recieved a gift from [C]. I't a chrome winged-cat hood ornament for The Cat. I stared in shock for a while, then finaly all teary-eyed thanked her, a lot. It is without a doubt the sweetest gift I have gotten for any reason from anyone in as far back as I can recall.
(A bit of history on the hood ornament. There was a guy at Arisia selling his own cast-bronze statuettes, and one of them was a winged-cat, another was a dolphin. [C] commisioned him to make a dolphin, get it chromed, with bolts for mounting as a hood ornament. I was taken with the winged-cat, but could in no way afford the price tag, never mind the added cost of the chroming and such. I was planning to get this for The Cat as soon as I could afford too, but knew that would be in teh far-ish future.)
I'm still all giddy about this, only the fact that I don't have a drill here is keeping me from mounting on The Cat now, at night, in the rain.
Now I have even more reason to get the time/money to aquire replacements for The Cat's battered front bumper, left fender and hood. Going to have to go junkyard hunting as soon as I can find some time to do so.
[C] also recieved a postcard saying she had been accepted to the Houston ArtCar show. I don't know if I recieved one or not as it would have been sent to my mom's place, and it's a bit late to call her and ask. So right now I'm doing the 'What if they didn't accept me?!?!' interspersed with and occasional 'What if the did accept me?!?!'
Yes I'm fully aware I'm obsessing, I'm good at it, I've had lots of practice."
