On feeling like shit
Apr. 20th, 2001 05:43 pm"So [A] read my post bitching about the hood, and while I was away in NYC brought it to a body shop to get it professionally painted.
the problem is that she didn't ask me first whether a) I would want that done and b) if there was enough time before we left Sunday for this.
So i got back from NYC late thursday afternoon planning to spend that night polishing out the overspray and such on the hood, and transcribing quotes onto it then and today (fri). Instead I found that she had already brought the hood to the body shop and it was therefore too late to get it back. It was supposed to be ready at noon today, it wasn't ready until 4pm. We went and picked it up and the guy there said it wouldn't be cured enough to paint on for a minimum of another 24hrs (he actually suggested waiting a week). Which means that I won't be able to start working on it until Saturday afternoon at the earliest, and we're leaving Sunday morning for Houston.
So now I can't start on the hood until days after I planned to, and I'm going to have to work on it every extra second I get on the way down to Houston to get it looking decent in time (I've given up on getting it done at this point).

I hate it when people do things that directly affect me like this w/o asking, moreso if it involves my car. If [A] had asked me before doing this I could have told her that it wasn't necessary, that there wasn't time, and that it wasn't worth what it cost her to get it done. Now she's done all this trying to as she put it 'make me happy' and instead I'm frustrated, annoyed, and afraid that my car won't be ready in time for Houston (which is about the biggest most important thing that's happened to me in a long time).
And because she put all this time, money and effort into it I feel like shit for not being glad and thankful.
And people wonder why I hate 'surprise parties' and 'surprise' most anything.
