Feb. 14th, 2002 04:17 pm"Most anyone who has met me or reads my LJ has also met, or at least heard about my artcar The Cat. She's a black taurus wagon covered in (among other things) over 750 different quotes and saying, scrawled all over her in silver paint. I started work on her in August of 1998 and have been adding to her ever since.
Well the end of last month her transmission died after over 239,500 miles. The Cat is currently undriveable and sitting in my mom's driveway. To rebuild the transmission will be between around $1,200. A local shop has made a quite generous payment plan offer, however I just returned to college and am unemployed at the moment (the transmission started dying the day I registered for classes).
So I'm asking for help. I need donations to help get her back on the road, any amount will help. I want to make it clear though that I am not expecting nor demanding donations, please donate only if you wish to and are able to. Everyone who donates will get their name (or nickname, or whathaveyou) on an 'I saved The Cat' plaque to be added to her once she's back on the road. So please let me know how/if you want to be listed on that. That way the world can know you did your part.
