"Whee. this was a fun night. I grabbed a bus downtown, returned the American Beauty video, bought soap and cold meds (currently suffering from dribbly nose & soreness), and returned some books to the Yale library a classmate had loaned me for my paper.
Then I sat in Oh-Bone-Pain for a bit drinking tea and reading my book. Once 8pm rolled around I went in search of the Yale gaming group (called NEXUS, not to be confused with the Eclectic Nexus which is the house of freaks in my hometown). I found them and got to spend several hours hanging out with fun geeky ppl. We played some bizzarre Guitaroo PS2 game, Balderdash, Give me the Brain, and Taboo. IT was loads of fun and there was at least one other person there who was new to the group so I didn't feel as weird. Not that it liekely would have been a problem as they were a open friendly bunch. Though there was an amusing bit of confusion when I first came in as the guy who I had emailed to get info on the group mistakenly thought my name was 'Tom' (due to my having a Tom Smith quote in my sig). So we had a convo something like this:
"Hi is this Nexus?"
"Tom?"
"No, I'm Pixel."
"But are you Tom?"
"I'm Pixel."
"But isn't your name Tom?"
"No."
"What is your name?"
"Pixel."
"No your real name."
"Pixel."
"What do you sign your emails?"
"Pixel."
"Don't you use another name?"
"No, just Pixel."

This went on for a bit before we figured out where he was mistaken.
After the group started to break up around midnight I decided to head off (dispite the fact several ppl were still playing PS2 and invited me to stay and join them). The busses had stopped running long since(which I was aware of an had planned for) so I started walking back to Southern.
Well I must have taken a wrong turn at some point as I wound up way off in the wrong part of New Haven. I didn't mind much as the weather wasn't bad (just warm enough that as long as I kept walking I was fine) and I was quite relaxed. With the help of a friendly homeless person I got back on track and got back to my dorm after only about 50minutes of walking. Now walking will never be a favorite passtime of mine but it is occasionally nice to wander around on foot such that I can actually see stuff. Also as a bonus effect of getting lost I found out where the New Haven Animal Shelter is, and it's really close to campus. So now I know where to go if I need a pet fix, an if I actually have free time later this semester I might voulenteer a bit there.

Tomorrow/today (depending on your view of it) at 3pm The Nields are going to be performing/signing at a record store downtown, so I'll get to see a band I really like and have been listening to lots of today. The Hermit (the Southern student who emailed me about The Cat) might even possibly join me if I can convince her to leave her room."
