Arisia Con report thingy.
Jan. 14th, 2007 09:34 pmShort version, because I don't recall enough to go into depth.
Friday after work I came home, packed last minute things, reassembled my repainted Nerf gun, changed and headed up to Boston. Found a parking space surprisingly close, got my con badge and wandered around.
The new Arisia hotel is... interesting. It lacks some things (hangout space, sufficient elevators, etc.) but I did like that the first three floors felt more connected, and you could easily go to the center atrium and look up or down and see lots of other stuff going on. I think with some re-organizing and planning it'll work pretty well next year.
Did a wander through of the con, spent some time with the Amberfiend at the drum circle, then headed over to various room parties. I ended up in the Intercon G party, which was a ton of fun. We had slushies, I was involved in a Nerf duel, really bad jokes were told, etc. I spent a nice chunk of the evening snuggling and flirting with a very cool and cute girl.
Ended up staying up until 2am, the Amberfiend was nice enough to give me crash space on her floor.
Saturday was a lot of wandering around. Got to see a lot of ppl and hang out with them. Once again completely failed to make it to any panels. LJ meet & greet was nice once I joined the group of ppl actually meeting & greeting and not the net.celebrities holding court. I found out I wasn't qualified to be a freemason. I plotted pranks for next year. I was aggressively flirted with by a cute anime girl in a terrifying wig. :)
I eventually left around 1am, and drove home, finally passing out in my bed in Hartford around 3:30am, and slept for ten hours.
Today I went up and visited PG, and went hot tubbing at East Heaven, which was a relaxing place to end a con weekend.
Overall very fun con, and am very glad I went. But next year I'm making sure I have crash space.
