So my family has a summer cottage (near this lake in southeastern CT), which sits empty 95% of the time.

So I was planning to hold at least one weekend party there sometime in the next couple months. The is swimming and fishing at the lake, and we've got a canoe, some kayaks and a snark sailboat. We've done movies, gaming, various game,s and general hanging out. I've even got a firebowl we can set up to do smores and whatnot. There crash space in the cottage, or people can pitch tents on the lawn. Folks would be welcome for whatever part of Friday-Sunday they could make it.

Does this sound like something you all would be interested in? Also any weekend(s) in particular that do or don't work for you?

Car Chase Movie Night on Wednesday, as usual if you're reading this and willing to make the drive you're invited. Show up around 6pm, movie goes in around 6:30. Fey hasn't decided if she's cooking or we're doing takeout.

This week's movie is Cannonball Run II. Burt Reynolds, Dom Deluise, fast cars, fake nuns, and "Him".

You know you want to watch the badness.

...but this is too good to pass up.

(from Daily Kos) Stunning Court Ruling May End Bush's War Crime Trials, Neuter Mil Com Act

Short version, the Military Commissions Act only applies to "unlawful enemy combatants". All the people at Gitmo (who the Mil Com Act was created to prosecute) are "enemy combatants". So they don't fall under the jurisdiction of the Mil Com Act. Two trials have been thrown out already for this, including Bin Laden's driver.

Once again, the Bush administration shoots themselves in the foot.
