Looked at a really nice house today. It is pretty much everything we're looking for in a place[1], and has the MAJOR advantage of being a stand-alone house rather than an apartment.
Is a little more than we wanted to pay for the two of us (but doable), or if we have a friend move in with us it brings it inline with what we're paying now.
Only downsides are lawn care & snow removal are our responsibilty, and it has oil heat (though realistically oil/gas/electric are all about equally crazy expensive these days).
We submitted an application, and should here back on Monday one way or the other. With luck we'll be able to start moving stuff in mid-next week.
