Home sick

After something like 12+ hours of fitful tossing & turning & awakening every few minutes "sleep" (where I probably got 2-3 hours of actual rest) I called out to work at 6am this morning. I then tried to "sleep" until about 10:30am.

So I am home sick, and still feeling bad enough I have no guilt about calling out. If I had gone to work all I would have done is stare blankly at my work computer while being a massive disease vector.

So I am wandering blearily around the house.I want to be at least a little productive today, but the degree of sick is kinda preventing that.

Things I *need* to get done today:
  • go out and buy tissues
  • eat at least two real meals
  • get less sick

Things I would like to get done today:
  • laundry
  • dishes
  • some basic picking up and sorting of stuff

Things I need to remind myself I'm not actually healthy enough to attempt:
  • sweeping & scrubbing the floors
  • cleaning the bathrooms
  • pulling the spark plugs & adjusting the gap on Box
  • moving furniture in my bedroom
  • driving around to photograph my favorite ghost ads in Hartford.

I hear and see people talking about the surreal fever dreams they have, or trippy things their brain comes up with when dosed with Nyquil. Really strange bizarre imaginings that are completely unfathomably weird.

I don't get those. When I'm sick my brain is barely able to summon up the processing power to remember my name, let alone come up with fantastical dreamworld that'd make Dali wet himself. On Nyquil it is even worse. On Nyquil I tend to just do a fantastic impression of a speedbump.

Other people on fever/Nyquil: "So I was totally a wombat, and the gummy-bear faeries and I had to go to the land of magic and saline to defeat the evil sugarplum gnomes..."

Me on fever/Nyquil: Corporate Accounting? How fascinating, tell me more..."
