Usernames vs Nicknames

So since I started this LJ I've used nicknames to describe the various people I'm talking about. The problem comes that it sometimes takes a while to come up with one for a particular person, and sometime I just can't come up with one I want to use. Also (especially with people I rarely talk about) I can sometimes forget the nickname for them, which causes other confusion.
Therefore I was planning to just go to using LJ handles for those what have them, and just use nicknames for people who don't.
