Last thursday I finished the wings I was commissioned to make. By "finished" I mean I just about had a nervous breakdown due to how stressed I'd gotten about the project and ran out of brain and time. So I did what I could before they were picked up on Thurs and sent them off like that. Still waiting to see if the guy who commissioned them was satisfied or if we have to negotiate me returning some of the money he paid. A this point I don't really care as I'm just glad to be rid of the project. I seriously overestimated my abilities and vastly underestimated the time needed vs. time available.
I had yesterday off work, and will also have Thurs & Fri. Going to get stuff done on the trailer, Box & Emily as well as do more cleaning and sorting around the house and hopefully get some stuff listed on craigslist & ebay.
Regarding the trailer, work is progressing, but much slower than expected. I have determined the guy I bought it from was a complete hack. Anything he says he worked on I pray he was lying and didn't touch because if he did do anything with it it means twice as much work as if he'd left it hte hell alone. Also, he was obsessed with the caulk (which I intentionally pronounce poorly when stating this about him out loud). He used silicon caulk to seal up any place he thought was leaking (but since he was a hack, he sealed the wrong shit). So now I have to fight to remove old dried caulk spooge so I can fix it properly. Very annoying and very much slowing me down.
Tomorrow at work I get my official 60 day notice. Yay. The India team is doing a crap job and screwing stuff up left and right, but that isn't slowing the transition any. What does quality of work matter when we can be laying people off and making out balance sheet look better? The one good point, they are expecting to only need me for 45 days, but will pay me for 60 regardless. And if I stay to the end (which date is the "end" I need clarified), I get another few weeks bonus because of my time with the company.
I have good odds of being hired for another job with the company, which is good. But it is a call center job from 10:30am-7pm, which sucks. But it is a job so it ain't all bad.
