I have a job interview on Monday. It's for a position at a storage yard for a repo company. I'm excited that I got a response so quickly, but am a bit nervous for a few reasons:

  • It pays a bit over $3/hr less than what I was making (but will go up to a bit over $2/hr less after 30 days).
  • it extends my commute from 10-15min and no traffic to 30 or 45min(depending on which location) & traveling through a major urban center either way.
  • It is a temp position (with a high likelihood of becoming permanent, but still), so I might end up right where I started in a bit, but with unemployment benefits based off a lower-paying job.

But hey, job interview and potential employment that pays more than unemployment. So it is well worth at least going in.

Short version:
An 18 year old kid named Tyler loves Pontiac Fieros, he bought a $150 one to rebuild and posed with it for his senior picture. A few weeks later he was diagnosed with cancer. Treatments failed and he went home to die, and planed to try and rebuild the Fiero. Realizing he didn't have the strength or time to finish it, he asked the fiero.com forum if anyone could help.
Three weeks later a small horde of Fiero owners/lovers descended on Tyler's home town with $4,000 in donated parts & supplies and worked for 24 hours straight to completely redo his '86 Fiero from end to end. "Tyler's Toy" was unveiled, and Tyler (who by this point was in a wheelchair) summoned up enough energy to take it out for a drive.
